| 'EXCELLENT LENS AND SENSOR - SLIGHTLY QUIRKY, GREAT RESULT' | | Strengths: Lens is first class, zooming out to 24mm equivalent, great for landscapes, interiors etc. All major options (ISO, WB, flash mode, EV+-) are on dedicated buttons so easy to set without lots of menu navigation. Tilt/twist LCD works well. EVF ok. battery life very good. Good results with external (non dedicated) flash | | Weaknesses: Quite heavy. AF a bit slow. Limited frame buffer means no movie mode (so what?) very limited sequence modes and auto bracketing (more of a shortcoming) | | Overall: This camera comes in for a bit of stick from people criticising it for not being a DLSR. Hello? - it was never meant to be one. If interchangeable lenses or very quick operation are important this is not the camera for you. The rest of us can enjoy the excellent image quality, quiet versatile operation (and the knowledge that we've taken the trouble to decide what's right for us rather than succumbed to the corporate marketing machine) |
