'WEATHERPROOF!'
Strengths:
Weatherproof!
The lens cover is a mirror so you can see yourself if you are doing self-portraits (or down the pub etc)
Thin and light.
Weaknesses:
No viewfinder
No obvious place to put your thumb on the back, so you'll probably scuff the front - which is quite easy.
Doesn't perform too well at the higher zooms - there is a fair bit of distortion.
Overall:
I have to say it again, its weatherproof so you are safe to use it outside in the rain - but there are limits, don't expect to drop it in a lake and still have it work because it probably won't.
Other than that its a tidy little camera, apart from the distortion problem I mentioned above...

'REASONABLE COMPACT CAMERA'
Strengths:
Image processor is good at handling noise at higher ISOs and produces clear and sparkly colours.
Lots of scene modes and white balance settings to play around with.
Redeye function works well.
Weaknesses:
Fiddly design, and the cover has a knack of slipping down of its own accord.
For the size of the flash compared to the camera, its not that good, and is too close to the lens.
Overall:
As a compact is works well, and is worthy enough to carry the Nikon name with pride. But definately have a look and ask to have a good play with the camera when you go to the shop to buy it, as it may be a bit too fiddly for the more clumsy amongst us (like me.)
