Single Lens Reflex cameras are set at the professional end of the market and are priced as such. The term SLR refers to a mirror mechanism that flips from the viewfinder to the sensor when the shutter is pressed, allowing the shot to be set-up perfectly. SLR cameras allow interchangeable lenses to be attached, and are generally more feature rich than compacts
