Canon has extended its popular Ixus range of digital compacts with three new image stabilising models. The £240 Ixus 85 IS and the £260 Ixus 90 IS both sport a 10 megapixel sensor, a three times optically stabilised zoom, face detection, 19 shooting modes and automatic high ISO functions with motion detection. Both also feature a 30 frame per second VGA video mode. The differ in design - the squared off Ixus 90 IS features a three-inch PureColor LCD II screen, while the more curved Ixus 85 IS features a smaller (2.5”) screen and an optical viewfinder. The Ixus 90 IS is available in silver only, where the Ixus 85 IS can be supplied in silver or silver and black, and both will be available at the end of March.
The curvy Canon Ixus 970 IS also sports a 10 megapixel sensor, face and motion detection, a 230,000 pixel 2.5” LCD screen coupled with an optical viewfinder, 18 picture modes and a four stop lens-based image stabilisation system. The £299 Ixus 970 IS sports Canon's natty 'continuous curve' styling and features a new five-time zoom, the longest ever seen in the Ixus range.
