It's been 10 years since Fujifilm produced its first FinePix digital camera. To mark this occasion, Fujifilm has announced a slew of seven new cameras, from entry level to prosumer grade.
At the top of the new launches are the FinePix S100FS and the FinePix F100fd. Both feature Fujifilm's new 8th Generation Super CCD image sensors and RP (Real Photo) Processor III, Dual Image Stabilization and deliver an extremely Wide Dynamic Range. The S100FS features a 14.3x zoom a tilting 2.5" LCD screen, 11MP sensor that can operate up to ISO 10,000 at 3MP resolution. The 'FS' in the name stands for 'Film Simulation', and the camera replicates the characteristics of classic film types.
Meanwhile, the powerhouse-model FinePix F100fd is a 12MP, 5x optical zoom design that features Face Detection 3.0, allowing for the detection of up to 10 human faces in a scene in as little as 0.036 seconds. The camera can even operate up to ISO 12,800 at 3MP.
Elsewhere in the S-series, the 18x superzoom S8000fd has been upgraded. The new S8100fd replaces the six-month old S8000, boosting the resolution to 10MP, an ISO range up to 6,400 and improved continuous shooting modes. The S1000fd, though, is wholly new and features a 10MP sensor with 12x zoom and ISO rating up to 6,400, all in one of the smallest SLR-styled prosumer models yet made.
Following the success of the FinePix Z10fd, Fujifilm has announced the 10MP FinePix Z20fd has a 2.5" LCD, 3x optical zoom, improved face detection, red-eye removal and MPEG-4 recording. It also comes in four colours.
FujiFilm also introduced a wholly new product line, called the J-series. The eight megapixel FinePix J10 and FinePix J50, the former is a 3x zoom compact with a 2.5" LCD screen and the J50 features a 5x zoom and a 2.7" LCD. Neither feature image stabilisation, but instead feature a high ISO setting.
All seven new models feature a versatile xD/SD Media Compatible Slot. Prices to be confirmed on all seven products.
All these products will be on show at the Photo Marketing Association show in Las Vegas. As will a prototype of a new medium format film camera. More will be revealed soon...
