Alongside the G2, General Electric announced a range of entry-level digital compact cameras, called the A-Series. Two models - the A735 and A835 - currently make up GE's entry point line-up, although a third model - the A840s - is also expected soon.
The A735 and A835 both feature a 3x optical and 4.5x digital zoom and a 2.5" LCD screen, and both run on AA batteries instead of the lithium-ion batteries used throughout the rest of the GE line-up. The principle difference between the two cameras is that the A735 sports a seven megapixel sensor, while the A835 raises the pixel count to 8MP.
The A840s is a 19.5mm thick, more upmarket design, featuring an eight megapixel sensor, with a 4x optical and 4.5x digital zoom, a large 2.7” LCD and a lithium-ion power source. Once again, the GE camera has a standard-across-the-range line-up of photographic tools and features, including like 14 screen modes, image stabilisation, red-eye removal, high ISO capability, in-camera panorama mode and face detection, with blink and smile recognition.
Prices for the A-Series range are still to be confirmed, but are thought to start from around £60.
