The TIPA Awards 2007:

This year there's been quite a range of names topping the categories in the Technical Image Press Association awards - Nikon and Canon are head to head in the DSLR categories, whilst compacts cross a range of Fujifilm, Nikon, Panasonic and Ricoh.

The awards are as follows:

DSLR cameras:

Best D-SLR Entry Level: Nikon D40x

Best D-SLR Expert: Pentax K10D

Best D-SLR Professional: Canon EOS-1D Mark III

Digital compacts:

Best Ultra Compact Digital Camera: Fujifilm FinePix Z5fd

Best Compact Digital Camera: Nikon Coolpix P5000

Best Superzoom Digital Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3

Best Prestige Camera: Ricoh Caplio GX100

Good to see support for Ricoh - seem to an underlying force that keep releasing very effective cameras for the buck.

Otherwise no big surprises - Canon's EOS-1D mk III ruling the roost in the pro DSLR area.

The Pentax K10D winning is refreshing to see,as they are a bit undersung in the digital stakes.
