Not too many months after the release of the R5, Ricoh have followed up swiftly with the R6. Whilst it may appear rather similar to its predecessor, there are a few key updates:
Firstly this season's must have - face recognition - has been added to the stable. Secondly the LCD display is slightly larger, boosting up to 2.7" from the R5's 2.5". The zoom remains an impressive 7.1X and runs from 28mm - 200mm (in 35mm equivalent) - certainly ideal as a travel camera since this will cover fairly wide angle right through to telephoto. Plus it's an uncomplicated design, which has been slightly slimmed down for this version - as has the price!
So if you're looking for a reasonably priced compact with all the current features, including image stabilisation and high image quality across even high ISO ranges, the R6 certainly shouldn't be overlooked. Oh, and you can even get it in red!
Expect to see it in the shops this month, RRP £229.99.
