You might remember that we sent one of our intrepid readers off to the Antarctic armed with a flask of warm tea and a Fujifilm F30. Katharine sent me this report from "The End of the World". Her pictures had to be heavily compressed to get them here - she's running Ulead PhotoImpact on her laptop and then transferring them by satellite phone. Ben at her UK base tells me that the pictures will get a lot more dramatic from here on as she battles through high seas to the Antarctic.

"As you know, not only am I testing the Fujifilm Finepix F30 here, but I am on a journey with Robert Swan (the first man to walk to both the north & the south pole) to open an Education Base in the Antarctic. This is the first education base of its kind and will be used to teach about global warming - I will definitely be emailing back pictures to you! The EBase will be broadcasting live to schools all over the globe.
I am currently in Ushuaia in Argentina - a town more commonly known as the 'End of the World' and it certainly feels like it! Today I have been on a 7 hour glacier walk to a beautiful reservoir but in the pouring rain - thank goodness the camera was so light. I have attached a couple pictures for you, and if you have any comments or helpful tips - especially shooting in these weather conditions, icebergs and penguins then please do let me know!"
