Grand Autumn Competition - the winners

model canon 1DsMkII

We asked for pictures summing up autumn and we got them! 50 entries for our first rapid fire competition. The rules were simple - send in a picture taken in autumn that sums up autumn for you. Then we got our members to vote on the winner - here are the results.

Acer by Robert Pinion Third Place
Acer by Robert Pinion
In third place “Acer” by Robert Pinion. Arboretums are always a good bet for autumn shots and Robert captured the glorious red of this acer at Winkworth Arboretum. The curves of the trunk give a focus to this picture whilst all the red bursts around it.
Shadow Blades bt Marino Perissinotto Second Place
Shadow Blades by Marino Perissinotto
Marino Perissinotto is no stranger to winning ThinkCamera competitions - he's had picture of the week two weeks running with his beautiful landscapes. This time he's runner up with “Shadow Blades”. I love the subtle tones in this from the sky to the shadows of the trees on the grass. It's a great monochrome shot - since everything in it is a shade of yellow - you can feel the mood of the place just from the picture.
Leaves by Steve Taylor First Place
Leaves by Steve Taylor
But the winner is “Leaves” by Steve Taylor. You can't get a more classic autumn view than this and Steve has captured it beautifully. Just enough sun to make the leaves glow like they are on fire - not enough to overpower the shadows. Steve was also just outside the top three with “Misty Morning” - a picture that would also do well in our winter competition…

Steve wins a special edition 1DsMkII and Ulead Picture Show 4.

Watch out for more quick fire competitions coming soon!
