Samsung, Sony, Casio and Nikon have all recently made some big announcements and now it seems Kodak want its share of the limelight with the release of four new cameras and a photo printer!
The first camera is the EasyShare V705, another funky dual-lens camera like its predecessors the V570 and the V610, claiming to be the world's smallest wide-angle zoom camera measuring just 101 x 49.8 x 20.4mm. The V705 now pushes the MP level of the range up to 7 (which has two sensors due to its two lenses) and has a 5x optical zoom range. The camera also offers 3 shot panorama stitching and on-camera editing tools. The V705 will be available in September for £279.99, full details here.
Kodak's Point and Shoot range (the C series) has 3 additions. The most exciting, or feature packed, is the EasyShare C875 which has 8MP, 5x Optical and Digital zoom, and the now traditional compact design - silver with a big grip on the right-hand side - offers a 2.5 inch LCD with a wide viewing angle. The C875 has Perfect Touch technology for clearer red-eye free shots and a Smart Scene feature that chooses the best scene mode for you. This may sound a bit of a lazy option but as the camera has 22 scenes to choose from it's a pretty handy feature. It will retail at the end of August for RRP £229.99, details here.
The other two cameras are the C743 and the C433, introduced to offer similar features to the C875 at more reasonable prices. The C743 is a 7.1 MP, 3x optical zoom beast and will retail for £149.99 at the end of September (details). The C433 is unashamedly targeted at the budget end of the market with 4MP (which is still a worthy figure if the sensor is good) and 3x zoom and it will retail for RRP £89.99 in mid-September (details).
Rounding of the fun is the EasyShare G600 printer dock which is designed for portable printing “anytime, anywhere” with a built-in carry handle, smart paper tray storage and battery or AC powering. Aimed mainly for use with Kodak's EasyShare cameras (all Kodak's new releases are EasyShare) it allows photos to be printed with a single button and quick high-quality prints in 60 seconds - alas the only negative point seems to be that the maximum paper size is 4” x 6”. If you aren't a Kodak user don't fret as the G600 accepts PictBridge and ImageLink too. More details are here and the printer will be out in August for an RRP of £129.99
