For those of you spending the summer swanning off to sunny climes to lounge on sandy beaches (or even just the seaside at Southend and the like) Fujifilm have released two waterproof cases for their latest cameras, so you can keep it waterproof while you are swimming with dolphins or if it falls off your luxury cruise yacht. For us back in Blighty, the cases are ideal for use in rainy and snowy conditions too.
The first case is for the F30, which Fujifilm claim is the “perfect diving camera” due to its long battery life, high performance in low light and its dedicated underwater mode (which acts as an in-built red filter so you don't need to add one yourself). The case, officially dedicated the WP-FXF30, is watertight to a depth of 40m, is made of transparent polycarbonate, allows full access to all the buttons of the F30 and includes a camera strap. (dimensions 129 x 94 x 96mm, weight 295g)
The WP-FXA500 is designed for the A400 and A500 cameras, Fujifilm's entry-level cameras and is the first case for a budget camera like these. Also made out of transparent polycarbonate, the case can only withstand pressure of 3m - enough for use on the beach. (Dimensions 110 x 65 x 38mm, weight 193g)
Unfortunately no pricing or release dates have been released, but it would be good to assume they'll be available quite soon - while we still have a few scraps of summer left!
