Samsung anounce ANOTHER new camera - the L70

Those nice chaps at Samsung have been busy again. Two weeks ago they brought us the S range, three weeks before that was their NV range and today they anounce their latest baby. Not a whole range this time just a new camera.

The press release has all the buzzwords we are seeing in recent press releases. The camera has a nice big 2.5 inch LCD which is optimised for the environment - i.e. when it's sunny it gets brighter so you can see it, when it's dark it turns down to save battery power. Seven million pixels combine with ISO 1000 and anti shake (two huge buzz features at the moment) and should mean you can use this camera in darker places than ever before.

They are also promising an "innovative user interface" allowing everything to be controlled by a 9 button pad. This sounds the most interesting bit of the camera - most digicams we see have a very similar control system at the moment but I get the idea that they aren't quite perfect yet and I'll look forward to seeing how the new system fairs.

Samsung are also promising enhanced picture quality and this would be another welcome enhancement. When we reviewed the L60 our reviewer found it was a really nice camera let down by image quality and the user interface. Maybe Samsung have been listening to Think Camera :)

Its good that Samsung are actively trying to make menu navigation better, but something seems awfully wrong about the 9 way pad on the L70 (theres a pic in the article)

Firstly it just looks a bit... weird! How three of the buttons have text and the layout of those seems a bit off, and secondly i'm not too sure that you can get away with this few buttons, since theres no delete button for starters.

"M" seems a bit omnious too.
