Lexar, one of the biggest names in memory cards, has announced it is releasing a new CompactFlash card in its Professional range. The new card has a capacity of 8GB and a speed of 133x, making it the biggest and fastest CF card on the market (as of Tuesday 18th at least).
The 133x speed means 20mb/sec file transfer allowing high-speed performance camera-card and card-PC, which becomes really apparent when shooting in the memory-guzzling RAW format or video. For those that don't use RAW an 8GB card may be overkill, but if you can afford it you may never have to change the card or carry a spare again.
The card will be available in August for an RRP of $424.99 (around £230 here) and it comes bundled with Lexar Image Rescue 2.0 and a full version of Corel's Paint Shop Pro 9.
