Danish software innovators Phase One have released an update for their "Capture One" RAW Workflow software, taking it up to 3.7.4. The standout improvements in this version are support for more cameras and RAW files, a slew of performance gains across the board and a Universal version for Intel Macs.
Now that it can run natively on Intel Macs it can run up to 40% faster than before, and the new version also is faster at RAW processing for both Intel and older PowerPC Apple Macs. The Windows version is also a lot faster than before, with tests claiming a 200% capture increase and 10% raw processing gains.
The new cameras supported are the Canon EOS 30D, the Pentax *ist range and the Sony R-1 (the first Sony to be supported by Capture One software). Phase One's P21, P30 and P45 camera backs are also supported now. A full list of camera's supported by Capture One can be found here.
Version 3.7.4 is available now as a free update for existing users (if within license), and a trial version can be found on their website - www.phaseone.com. It can be bought in two flavours; "PRO" which is cross-platform and has two product activations and two updates, and "LE" that has two activations but only one update.
