New Kodak EasyShare Printer Range

You may remember not so long ago that Kodak announced a change in business strategy - essentially they were dropping ink prices. (See A Revolution from Kodak)

Same stuff, same quality, same longevity. Cheaper price. Brilliant? - yes, pretty much!

Just a quick overview again of how much buying new sets of ink for printers sets you back (RRP):

  • CanonMP150 - £34
  • Epson DX7000F - £25
  • Kodak - EasyShare 5500 / 5300 - £17

Now think about that in the long run!

  • Kodak EasyShare 5300 All In One Printer, cheap ink

Today, however, we heard news of a mini-revelation - Kodak have partnered up with DSG International PLC (that's PC World and Currys to you and me).

Fair enough? - well, maybe… but maybe not. Essentially if you want to pick up one of these printers and ink then that pretty much limits your choice.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm sat here in the office peering out across central London (well, I say that...it's largely obscured smog) - I certainly don't see a Currys or a PC World for miles. And I'm not going to source one out especially.

From my experience of getting to these outlets, you tend to need a car - and I don't have nor need a car. So Kodak just lost my custom.

There are those times when you've got 5hours until your new work proposal, job application, or homework are due in - I find huge reassurance knowing I can run around to pretty much any retailer and whip up the stuff that I need - and I'd pay the extra on the ink for that privilege.

Good job there's online shopping! Just hope you're at home when the postman rings…

    EasyShare 5300 £139RRP.
    EasyShare 5500 £209RRP.
    Available July.
