You would be surprised at what some manufacturers do to make memory cards better. Some like SanDisk choose to make the cards work faster, others like Lexar choose to put security technology in their cards, and some like PNY Technologies just go for the people's choice - raw storage power over anything else. Today, they have proven this with the release of a 2GB xD card.
xD cards aren't one of the big three types of memory card, being only used in Fujfilm and Olympus cameras, and they are held in low regard by some for their tiny file capacity and expense. Up until today, the biggest xD card widely available was 1GB but now PNY are changing this by bumping up the maximum to 2GB (the theoretical maximum is 8GB). This works out to about 1000 images at 8MP. For the more technical the card is Type M, which allows it to work with the special Panorama function found on most Olympus cameras.
The cards are available at your local stockists now and RRP for £60. See http://www.pny-europe.com/ for more info.
