At CeBIT 2006 this year, Memory Corp will be releasing a new range of professional memory cards - the PRO X range. These are designed to be fast, reliable, high-storage memory cards for photographers that need professional cards for shooting video or .RAW photos. The main feature of the cards however is their speed, and they are amongst the best in the industry - the CompactFlash card has a speed of 133x, and the SecureDigital cards can achieve 150x.
To put these speeds into perspective 1x is 150KB per second, so a speed of 133x can write 20mb a second and 150x writes 22.5mb a second. .RAW file size depends on what you are shooting and the amount of mega pixels, but these can typically go up to 15mb for a single shot, so speeds this fast are very useful for shooting these types of file, or taking a series of burst shots.
The full list of cards and storage sizes in the PRO X range are below. They all come with a ten year warranty and PhotoRescue software, and now will be bundled with a full version of iView Multimedia's image asset management tool iView Media to further help photographers with their day-to-day workflow. PRO X buyers will also get an exclusive discount on iView Media Pro.
The Pro X range is:
* CompactFlash: 1GB, 2GB, 4GB and 8GB (at speeds of 20mb)
* Secure Digital: 512MB, 1GB, 2GB and 4GB (22.5mb)
