It has been a very quiet time for news recently, as it seems Photokina has worn all the big players out and no-one is in the mood to announce anything. Well not cameras at least. Instead it seems like everyone is more content to patch up their products, Casio and Ricoh have released firmware for their cameras this week and software companies have updated theirs. Today it is the turn of Adobe, who are updating their Lightroom software with a 4.1 patch.
The Beta process (which Lightroom is in) is all about ironing out any problems that arise so we can forgive Adobe for releasing a patch - some companies get a lot of stick if they release a bug-ridden program and subsequently have to patch it. The Beta 4 release came out two weeks ago and this patch is to fix a few issues that have come up. They are mainly to do with program stability when using database update, cancelling dialogs and editing metadata. A few feature changes have also been made, most likely from the user feedback they are getting. The “Additional External Editor” and the “Edit in Photoshop” preference are now separate and the relationship between luminance and saturation have been changed.
This isn't a big feature update so you could be slightly forgiven for not updating, but it is free and it will help the program's stability - so you won't lose all your work if it crashes. Download the update from here and remember its Mac and PC.
