Not content with making the fastest camera in the West (the Exilim EX-F1), Casio has also chosen the Las Vegas CES to launch the slimmest 10 megapixel camera ever. The new Exilim EX-S10 is claimed to be just 15mm thick (when the lens is stowed in the body of course) and adds smile detection to the standard 3x optical zoom and Casio's YouTube friendly design. Available from February in red, blue, black and silver for $250.
Smiley-face detection is also a feature of the $200 8.1 megapixel EX-Z80, which will ship in March and cost $200. Like the EX-S10, the EX-Z80 has a auto shutter delay option that prevents the picture from being taken until the smile is broad enough (or vibration is low enough).
These are joined by the $330 Exilim E-Z200 and $280 E-Z100 models. The former is a 10 megapixel compact with a 4x optical zoom and CCD-shifting image stabilisation. The E-Z100 does without the image stabilisation, and slims nearly 2mm off the width of the camera in the process.
