Thanks alot AyJayEl
This was actually the best in about 40 I did, and was quite happy when I saw it, could have been a bit sharper but that would have to be done with a brace or something. Thanks for the comment however.
...Leo - you're right it may have been a little tid bit sharper...

But to be honest it's one of the most striking moon shots that I've seen in quite some time! Lovely details and shadows...really good.

Makes you think about the world. :)

Well done Leo. This is one of the best moon shots I've seen too. I've tried to take moon photos with my old Nikon 5700. I was surprised how much light came from the moon - that a 1/2000 sec exposure worked. But, most of mine came out blurred, as if they were slightly out of focus, and I'd occasionally get a nice clear one without knowing quite why. I supposed there might have been atmospheric problems, because I wouldn't be getting movement blur from such a fast shutter speed with the camera on a tripod.

Lovely shot Leo. Can hardly believe that you can see so much detail from way down here.

WOW !!! thanks for the POTW also for the kind words and votes,am stuck here now lol. Thanks everyone, this really urges me to push myself harder still.
@Richard I do envy your nikon 5700 now after doing a quick read up on it I noticed it got the bulb function which should give you some pretty good photos of the Milky Way and the night sky not forgetting using it for some normal long exposure night shots. As for my moon photos I usually use manual mode on my dsc-h2 with an aperture of 5.6 and shutter speed of 125 to 250 most times it depends on the moon phase at the time for this shot I had to use exposure compensation because the camera did not have a manual mode, don't forget your tripod also, another thing that might help, have a look at the exif data from a few of the images and take note of the shutter and aperture and then hope and pray for some clear skies.New moon will be on the 12th so maybe if you're outside for the perseids meteor shower you could also get some quick practice.Good luck, keeping my fingers crossed for you and hope to some some of yours soon.Am currently looking at a way to attach my dsc-h2 to the telescope, with the 12 zoom, I bet one should be able to see the mountains even better.
