Hi all,
I haven`t had a chance to fully explore this site as yet and i`m sure the answer lies somewhere but...

I need a camera preferably "compact" of around £200 that would be used mainly for shots of rings and gems for average size prints and the web.
I am looking for abit more than just point and click but without going too complex!

I am abit confused as to what would be the best choice/s.
I have been using an Olympus FE-180 up till now, and would like some improvement on this.
Many thanks.

Looks like a Ricoh Caplio R6 maybe what i`m looking for hmmmmm.

It is true that the R5 will focus on objects really rather close to the lens... the R6 maintains this, just revamps a few things - so probably not a bad bet indeed with that!

If you have not got one, buy a small light tent!!The improvements on your pics will be a lot more than a change of camera.

Thanks for the comments, the thing is the olympus which can produce not too bad pics (by me)belongs to the missus and i want my own toy!
So i may as well try and find an improvement if there is one noticeble in the price range.
Light tent, as in cloud dome type thing?
Might look into that thanks.

Just on the off-chance someone is interested i ordered myself a Ricoh GR in the end.
Certainly abit more than just a p&s camera, will be interesting to see how it shapes up.
Possibly not the best choice for what i need, though i`m sure it will serve me well for a few years.
