Having a few problems with my photos at the moment, they all seem to come out too light and washed out. Its a problem with the Flash properly but if I turn it off the picture gets blurry.

Its not on all of them of course, mainly ones i'm taking indoors. Got a Sony T-33 if it helps

Never used that cam personally, but on most you should be able to limit the power of the flash OR at least change the white balance to stop your photos washing out.

The white balance won't help i'm afraid. That's for fixing colour balance not exposure.

If you don't have a flash compensation control on your camera (you need to set negative compensation as it's over exposing) then try not shooting so close to the subject. (zoom in more unless you're trying to use macro mode)

Most cameras will over expose the flash severly if you use the flash in macro. Stupid and annoying, but few manufacturers have done anything about it.

The other option is get a (mini) tripod. This will fix the camera shake issue if you don't use flash.

Alternatively, if you can adjust the sensitivity (ISO) of the camera, when using flash, turning it down if it isn't on minimum already will help and reduce image noise, or when not using flash, turning it up will reduce bluriness, but reduce image quality (more noise.)

stick a bit of grease proof paper over the flash. that should soften the flash output.

Surely your camera has a control of the flash power. All mine have. If it hasn`t chuck it.
