Since this Darkroom thread category is about "General stuff, camera chit chat, issues and advice" I'd like to ask something totally unconnected with photography to see if someone can help.

For the past ten days or so I have had to fend for myself, my wife (for 38 years) left me, you see. Yes guys, but before you come up with the "lucky so and so's" the greater sadness is, she comes back on Friday. She's only been to the USA.

Now I've managed to keep myself well fed being a reasonable cook and I will not stoop to ordering delivered pizzas and curries. Life has pretty much continued as normal in the house, as they say "sex is the same but the washing mounts up." Today I decided to accept the challenge of working out what the three machines in the kitchen do.

So, this morning I was washing all the dishes, washing some clothes (keeping coloured stuff separate), whilst at the same time eating breakfast and watching Jeremy Kyle on TV. Alright, sad I know, but you do get to see the other end of the evolutionary spectrum and isn't this what all housewives do? Who said men cannot multi-task?

Now in the privacy of my shed (a man's domain) and surrounded by all my hand and power tools I can chop and clop and hammer and saw as well as anyone, but I do need a little help with these kitchen machines.

Can anyone tell me how to stop the machine going into spin dry mode because it smashes the pots to smithereens and she isn't going to appreciate my results so far.

Come on guys, how about a little help for your fellow man?

Just buy picnic plates and bowls. Unbreakable mate.

Put more fabric softener in then the plates won't smash.

Never thought of that Sandman!

My shirts were a mess as well, steaming away and dripping wet through.

There's something wrong with these machines .
