Very interesting, however 200 Bucks to get the top Platinum Membership, It may be me but I really did not see the value! You can get most of what you need from lower scale Membership

I just use the free section, so much info on the net these days I can`t see any point in paying for site membership of anything

It's a great site - I used to be there a lot when I was learning the ropes of my Nikon F65 years ago.  As for paying for membership, well, I suppose some people feel tethered to their forum after a while and, for them, it's a bit like giving money to a cause they believe in?
