They look similarif not. Use to ride the Deltics to Kings Cross from Peterborough when I lived in Lincolnshire.

Where's Thomas the Tank Engine Mate?

Those diesels don't look as exciting as steam, do they?

no woody class 40s, one of the ELR diesel lads  wed last weekend and the one of the right is hes engine so i believe, he coupled up to a rake of mk1s, put the other 40 on the back and raced them up and down the line all night with the wedding party on board,

I get to Tanfield railway & yseterday I got this Engine shed shot.

Taken in colourthe NEF file was converted in camera to Mono

Nice shot harold, I like the tanfield line, you really cant beat a good shed shot, looks like an old J94 saddle tank there

Nice work I like the smell of steam, oil & smoke.I was an engineer at sea for a while, we had a tripple expansion engine- that was some piece of kit.

As an apprentice i saw a quadruple expansion built but it was only tested on Air

classic chippy, i didnt realise York roundhouse was still going in 1966, I first visited the place in 1957, it is of course now the Great hALL  in York, the National  Railway museum
