"Not trying to cheat, just being creative"

That comment sums this shot up perfectly. It's not just creativity, it's genius.

It may not be to everyone's taste, but the thought behind this is fantastic. Obviously, using a scanner, you need something with a flat surface - few people would have considered a cross-sectioned chunk of rock!

The photoshop work to create the rest of the image is very well done - it's simple, it's not over-powering, and it complements the subject perfectly.

A fine example of how great images can be created without the use of a camera.

I fully agree with Michael. This creative (out of the box) thinking makes me green with envy. I wish I had just a tiny bit of that creativity.

Nice image and an interesting way of making it.

The only thing that gave away that it wasn't what it seemed was that the reflection is identical to the actual image. Of course if it was really a reflection, you'd get a slightly different perspective on the 3d parts of the subject. The photo is well enough set up that this isn't obvious unless you really go looking for it though.

This image is much more interesting BECAUSE it has been scanned. It's very well worked in photoshop - quite ingenious really and although we know the camera does lie we certainly can see from this that the scanner + operator can tell huge porkies!

A great creative shot and obviously a very creative person behind it.

I liked this image from the start. It was one of my favourites. I love the colours and the reflection and thought that considering it was scanned I thought it was a very clever and creative image, with superb postprocessing. :)
