Right i am saving up now (should be able to afford it when the D800 comes out lol

So, the D300's no longer "the best"! That'll upset the Monk who's just wasted his money.

And what about Mr Ron Clay? How fast can you save for one of these?

I must spread the word -  and see all those sickened faces.

Great!.... Where's that lottery ticket? (Fat chance!)

I might be able to afford it before I die....

if I get another job and work till I'm 90.....

Good job I like my D80..

It's a very nice looking camera.  I could put it on the mantel piece and admire it, but I'll stick with my D40 for a while yet.  Hoping it helps to bring down the price of the D300, as that's what I hope to buy in the next couple of years.

So it is a D300 with a full frame sensor. Unless you can afford the full size lenses you will be alright. But for wildlife etc you might be better with the crop factor.

but you have a free fuji simon you could sack the DSLRs now lol

I think I might wait a bit with putting the D300 on e-bay

Simon..Can I be first on your list of people that you may just want to donate that old D300 to ?....

FX format.  not for me yet, I`ll stick with the D300 for now, if yiou ask me its just Nikon trying to make a few extra quid, nothing innovative about it from where I`m standing

Does the ISO capability not tempt you?
Show/hide user stats

Julie, not really.

I imagine a full frame camera with the D3's ISO capabilities will be a force to reckon with, but my photography is more about using the available light rather than attempting to shoot something fast moving in the dark a long way away. If it is too dark use flash, or shoot with motion in the picture.

Don't get me wrong here, I do like high ISO as an option, because I can visualise that it comes in handy, but that alone would never sway me of buying a new camera.

I upgraded from a D70 to a D300 and I enjoy the D300 a lot more, but 99% of my pictures would have been as nice with the D70. (I only have the occasional big print made) If I would have the money I would rather buy a nice lens.
