It has a late autumn feel to it with great colours, composition and exposure the only thing that lets it down a little for me is the flat sky on the left. But still a great shot.

Thanks Roger. I see what you mean when I re-look at it but I haven't done much ps work on it at all, just altered the levels so it very much as it was at the time.

Maybe that's where I need to learn more in Photography - hanging around until the conditions are just right. I suppose I'm a bit impatient if the truth be told!

To be honest I don't think you could do much with the sky short of replacing it with a different one then it would probably look a little unatural. Its not so bad and very typical of scottish weather. I still like the shot its has a nice atmosphere or perhaps I'm just feeling home sick either way thanks for posting such a nice photo.

Which part of Scotland are you from?  With all that amazing scenery on your doorstep I think I could quite easily live there.

I am originally from just south of Edinburgh but am currently living and working in Kosovo. I think Scotland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world but then I am a little biased

I like it a lot too.

it looks like there is some detail in the sky. Why don't you try the following:

Create new layer, Switch the blending mode from Normal to Soft Light, Select a black soft brush and paint over the sky, reduce the layer's Opacity to suit.

That should bring out detail in the sky if there is any!

Lovely picture

Thanks Simon, I've given it a try and there was a little bit more detail. More would have been better but there is a rainbow starting to appear on the right hand side just above the water. Amazing I didn't see it when I took it!

Roger - I too think Scotland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
