Yes looking bck on this you are so right I think it may have been the in camera sharpening that had some part in it. Harry advised me to turn it off as my HH pic water wasnt right either. Have since switched it off and can see a big difference. See what you think of my Young Cheetah pic I really value your comments and try to take on board what everyone advises.

No problem -- I'm just starting myself and have made the same mistakes -- I'm in Dublin Camera Club (check website) and the monthly competitions have been an education.  With macro shots the important thing seems to be to get good focus on the subject and as much as possible to blur the background by opening the aperature.
