I steadied myself against one of the trees to shoot down the middle of the avenue, when the young lady walked into the shot, I thought of waiting until she got out of the way, but decided to include her, to draw the eye down the avenue, any thoughts?

I think your decision was the right one without her there would just be a blank uniteresting space. However, the person to the left outside the trees dressed in black is a little distracting as is the ornage thing/person on the right, cloning them out might help or not?

Two more views of your trees taken at different times of the year (look at the leaves) just off the Rue de l'Albertine, Brussels. I think the trees are white poplars, hence someone has tried to enhance their whiteness by painting the trunks.

The same guy is probably at the zoo now chasing a white rhino to paint.

These are old photos of mine taken on film that I just scanned in. I used to go there about every two months at one time and this is a nice quiet area just below the King's palace. That's the tower of the Hotel de Ville (town Hall) in the background.

Roger, thanks for the comments, I had already cropped out some distraction on the left of the picture, but I will try removing the people, and see if it improves - incidentally I hadn't noticed the pink/orange 'person' on the right when I took the shot, it was only later , and zooming in it is difficult to see exactly what 'it' is! it is either a girl with very vivid hair colour, or someone with something draped over their head. Woody, I share your liking for Brussels, It's a nice small city to wander around with lots of interesting architecture - [and bars!]

If you're ever there again Jim, try and look up a pub called In't Spinnekopke

(Trans - In the Spider's Web. Sorry about the music in that link - turn the sound down)

Almost everything is cooked with beer and it's good grub. It's only a short walk from the Grand Place in the back streets, but look at the range of beers -

No Kwak though. You'd have to go to the Toone Puppet Theatre for that. Worth it though just to see the cannonball the nasty Dutch fired at Brussels in 1830.

(Simon will love that little remark)
