It really depends on what type of lens you're looking for and how much you're willing to pay. The new 18-105mm is getting positive reviews, and it's got a reasonable range with VR, and it's a Nikon, so it can't be bad. I've got the Nikon 18-200mm VR on my D40 and really love the versatility and longe range, but it's expensive (£400+) and the f/5.6 aperture at 200mm is maybe a bit slow. Sigma do a 70-200mm at f/2.8 across its range. That must be a nice lens, and is not mega money (£500 ish). And Thinkcamera have recently briefly reviewed a new Tamron that's 18-200 (or was it 250). So, if that's the sort of range you're looking for then there are a few options. If I was you I would seriously consider buying the D90 with its kit lens. The kit is only £150 more than the body only price, so if you then decide you want another lens, you can decide to either keep or sell the kit lens. Hope this helps.
