I'm a beginner in this art, but it definitely got me. I'm about to get a camera, and i don't know which should i choose: sony cybershot DSC-H5 or Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 ? Can anyone help me with some advice (what i red on websites were just to formal: it's technical parameters only; i wanna know the opinion of a non-beginner about which one is better between the two)quick, cause in 2 days i have to get it!
Thanks and hope i'll talk to you soon!

I don't know anything about those cameras, but my advice if your getting into photography is get something with some form of manual control options (even some compacts have it) - that way you can learn the basics of exposure and appertures if you want ... instead of sticking with the point and shoot option .... and if and when you move up to a dslr you'll know how to use it better.

Corina, i've used the FZ7 a fair bit and its a decent enough camera (although I haven't touched an H5 so I can't comment about that as well)

The FZ7 has a lot of manual control- manual focus is available, and you can set aperture and shutter and let it choose the correct other settings for you... which is handy if you are learning, i still am.

Oh and while you are getting to grips with the camera it has a nice "easy" setting!

Paul is right on the button there when he says get something with manual control

The H5 has everything mentioned by Dave about the F27, I think most bridge cameras do. I have the H5 and so far cant find fault with it, it has a fantastic 12x zoom, which I have found handy.

Sony's H5 is great. Drawback is large LCD screen leaves no room to firmly hold camera without smudging the screen with your thumb.
