I would be interested to see how many times my photos have been viewed by others. In the same way the comments show how many times they have been viewed.

Perhaps also some kind of forum or album where you can only place a photo after voting on 3,4,5... or however many of the others in the album.

My biggest disapointment as I am sure other have is the lack of feedback. It would be interesting to see a critical anaysis by members of the think camera team of some of the photos posted which attract a lot of attention (not just votes but views) and also the ones that don't.

 Just some thoughts

I agree with Roger!

There is no response to the work placed here on Think camera. Not much anyway unless it gets hijacked with fishing? (Nothing against fishing, I love photography and I do not fish, sorry about that, lol) I wonder what the purpose of think camera really is?

I too would like to know how many people do look at my work if at all? But also, there are some quite beautiful work here on Think camera, and it would be really nice to be able to have something where we can collect them in some form to have something like my favorite and you click that and it goes into my favorite collection? As well as make it easy to have people in your watchlist because you like the way they work and want to be able to see when new work is uploaded by that individual?

My sincere regards,

Sylvia

Well I agree with Roger and Sylvia on that and to be able to see if pics have been veiwed would be great.

Also, it would be nice if the main headers ie Forum ,Gallery went straight to the latest postings first, instead of you having to pick one then pick again to get to the up to date items. The gallery for instance when you go into it only shows the top line of pics, you then have to pick again to see the rest. So lets have more space for those, coz people are more interested in the news, rather than history and Im sure we are all capable of scrolling back to wherever to find the highest voted pics etc should we want to veiw them again.

Plus it would give me a longer peek when Im sciving at work Lol.

 Regards Les

The problem with the gallery is that people start new threads on pictures where there are already existing threads. All that usually happens is that someone says how nice it is and then the photographer comes back and says thanks - end of thread.

Just seems pointless.

There so many pictures posted up in the gallery and some, quite a lot, are absolutely rubbish, worse than a holiday snapper's pictures. You start putting down comments on how poor it is and they'll then get upset and tell you where to stick your comments. Are you prepared for that?

What if they just don't like yours when you've worked so hard on them in Photo*****? Supposing they say it's absolute rubbish, not pulling any punches, for example. Are you prepared for that?

I haven't looked in the gallery for ages now and the reason being, I know what I expect to find there and I already know what sort of comments I'll find against the 'hot' favourites. It's all a bit predictable and, pardon me, a bit sycophantic.

If you really want your pictures to stand out, why not write a short article explaining why you took them or photo-whatsited them? Maybe it was just a day out or maybe you set off with a challenge in mind. What this site badly, and I mean really badly, needs is MORE ARTICLES!

It's dead. There's only Alan writing technical briefs and reviews on new equipment (yawn - and that's not a comment on Alan) and it wants a lot more life injecting into it.

Why do 95% of commenst on here revolve around a picture? Why not start up discussions on all sorts of stuff, political events, how the rising cost of petrol will curtail your photo trips, what you think about photo bans at certain events/sites/streets even? No-one got an opinion on that?

It's all very well knocking the anglers having a word or two, but on Fishingmagic the daft stuff only amounts to about 10% of the total postings in a day. The postings per day are somewhere in the region of 800 per day on a range of 70 or more topics/threads. Here, a dozen postings a day and whoopee! Liven it up a bit.

It's down to you!

If anyone wants to tear down my work? They are welcome to do so! As long as I know why it is torn down and what it is that would make it better? I can't help it, when someone is kind enough to leave a comment that I thank them. Must be the way I was brought up? If the criticism is constructive and people know what they are talking about? I would be very grateful for the learning curve

I agree with the more articles statment I am always interested in anything that can help improve my photos or make me aware of new developments.

I am not interested in debates on the price of petrol or politics as i have little enough free time to learn about photography and take photos but I am interested in what makes a good picture and how its done so anything from basic composition to photoshop techniques, if it helps I'm interested.

If someone writes simpy 'good photo' at least its something and I'm grateful if its one of mine they are commenting on although I would prefer more of why they liked or how it could be improved, but at least its feedback and gives me an idea of how I am doing even if its just one person. I assume if no one comments then its not such a good photo. I am interested in the end product, the photo and am happy that 95% of the threads refer to photos.

What sort of articles do you want to see more of then?

Fishing articles

I am really sorry, but I just couldn't resist

Alan Sircom - Editor wrote (see)
Oh, you'll find him popping up as a website editor of a few professional photography titles, the ones that appear on a monthly basis and maybe the ones that end up with you asking which digital camera you would buy... that kind of stuff.

I'm not totally 100% dead... You'll see my name on a few review things here and there on this site yet.

If you want the production side of site updated then get a petition to the publishers to buy me back...

We want you back Mike!

Where have you gone exactly? I'm sure I should be able to figure it out but I've never been good at the cryptic stuff. Straight down the middle, tell it to me straight kind of girl, that's me.

It would be nice to see the home page updated with a few recent pictures and the POTW showing. It's quite an achievement to get POTW and it's a shame for the winners not to have it shown on the home page. The home page really needs more members photographs on it.

I'm with Jo! I am very new here and don't know the politics very much? But I am behind Jo 100%

I find it interesting/revealing who is contributing to this thread; I have been away for a while and missed getting my two penniesworth in earlier.

I agree with most of the points made, and like Woody do not so often look at the Gallery these days because it is often difficult to find good work amongst the holiday snaps.  If I see particular names (most of which are above in this thread) I know it will be serious work and worthy of viewing.  I'm sorry gang that I do not comment much but I always appreciate the work that has gone into the images - (memo to self) must write more often.

Although I was once guilty of downloading 12 images of cricketers; I think a voluntary limit of half a dozen at a time would not be unreasonable.  If anyone can do more they must have had an exceptional day, have not put in much work or have more time on their hands than the rest of us.

Les has raised a couple of operation points; for me the greatest frustration is that when looking through the gallery, I often follow a sequence of work by a photographer after which I can only get back into the gallery by starting at the beginning again, using the Explorer back icon seems to take too long.

Finally, whilst I like 'Compassion' by SH very much; it seems an awfully long week.

Promise to comment on good and interesting work more.  I also note that it is sometime that I downloaded anything.  Must try harder there also.

Again a slight technical point. I can't seem to view the photos in the galeries properly it only displays half the picture when I click on them. I have tried using several different computers from different locations and the problem seems to be the same on each of them. Is it just me or is there some proplem with the site??

I have logged off and on again several times but it has not helped?

Roger, I am suffering from the same problem. I also note that the voting indication bar now seems to be centrally aligned; perhaps this is the same issue with the images.

Over to you Mr Web Master.

I still can't view the photos properly to vote or comment?

I'd like to see a "Show new reply to posts" and Show posts since your last visit" link at the top of forum pages.

I also think having more latest uploads showing on the main galler page would be better.

Im a fisherman that takes pictures and end up with lots of sunrise and sunset pictures

Im still learning photoshop etc

and so to be honest frightened to put pictures up

Cakey, you don't need photoshop to take good sunset and sunrise pictures. You need a good camera, tripod and an eye for composition

And the best way of learning to see if your photographs are good is to show them and people will kindly tell you what they feel about your work if you ask them
